Dust Sets Off Alarm At Scottsdale Healthcare Hospital - Monday, April 25, 2011
Scottsdale Fire Department and Scottsdale PD responded Monday afternoon to a structure fire call at Scottsdale Healthcare Hospital (Osborn) in the 7400 block of east Osborn Road in Scottsdale, Arizona. The report of a fire alarm sounding call came in to the department at around 2:50 PM.
Scottsdale fire spokeswoman Tiffani Nichols tells Scottsdale Arizona News that fire crews found haze/smoke inside and are checking for the source of the fire. No injuries reported. Some evacuations in progress.
Update 3:20 PM: Nichols says majority of units have been recalled. Fire alarms have been reset. Dust in the area may have set off the fire alarms.... No injuries reported.
Update 3:33 PM: Nichols says the "haze and smoke" source was confirmed to be dust from exterior concrete work that came in through a third floor vent. Three rooms with patients were evacuated on the third floor initially as a precaution. The hospital should be returning to full operation shortly.
